6/19/98 Friday 11:55 pm

Dear Diary,
I'm not sure what I should write, but i feel I shouldn't abandon you and you should be filled with sad stories, funny jokes, romantic poems; something that'll keep you and me busy!
Well, I guess I could tell you that I haven't made any new friends yet. I feel sort of alone like my horoscope said I would be. I guess it's because none fo my friends call me because it's long distance, and if they do call we only talk for a little bit and it's usually a boring conversation. Serena has been calling me lately. She keeps inviting me to meet her in Saint Cloud for lunch or something. Serena's starting to become boring though, I don't know what it is, but I've lost interest. Our phone conversations are the examples of the "boring" conversations I told you about. Aslo I believe I"m feeling lonely because I have no one to "hang out" with here. I guess I would if I had more guts to talk to people!! I like when people make the fierst move. I pray to God at night if he'lll do me a favor and have a girl or two ask me if I want to come over to their house or something, but so far it looks as if God doesn't want to answer my prayers. I wish he would, I'm getting sick of loneliness!
Love,
Lonely and Bored Gamache
:( Me right :)Me totally wrong
P.S. Helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllpppp!

5/16/98 Saturday 8:31 am

Dear Diary,
Sorry I didn't finish the entry last night. We got here pretty late (I'll explain later).
After Math, I put all my books on my desk and ran to get my instrument. In the band room Hilary was lauging hysterically. when she snuck up behind me, she scared the heck out of me! HIlary walked up to me and asked me if I liked Karl (who knew?). I said I didn't, but then she asked me if I liked Eric Hall (WHAT?). I said "No" to that one too, AND I DON'T. Hilary said they were going to ask me out! I ignored this, but weird things started that soon made Hilary's words seem true.
Serena was laughing just like HIlary was before. She called my name and I ran over. She said, "Guess what Karl and Eric like you, this is why..." ( I don't remember why, but Serena had them write it on a piece of paper.)
Nikki laughed at me when she heard this. On the piece of paper they put their names, phone #, why they like me, and the question-"Will you go out with Karl, Eric, or neither. Circle one." I circled neither.
Serena told me if I saw either of them I shouldn't tell them my answer, because she wanted to call them and tell them "No". Serena told me she'd call me and tell me if she could come over to my house. We never finished our project and it's due on Monday.
When I got home Serena called and said she had just called Karl and he siad he didn't care anymore (yeah right, I probably broke his heart). She said she called Eric too, but he wasn't home, and wouldn't be home 'til Sunday afternoon. So I'm sitting here worrying about what he's gonna do (what their gonna do), and what's gonna happen, all weekend.
Serena also siad she couldn't come over to my hourse that day, but maybe the next day.
Grandma, who never showed, was supposed to watch me this weekend. I had to go to the lake and spend the weekend with Sammy, Kala, and Joe (yea). Help me!
Love,
Nicolette G.

6/16/98 Tuesday 9:36 p.m.

Dear Diary,
On May 23, 1998 we moven to Eden Valley, MN. Serena slept over on the 22nd and helped us move. Serena was really pushy thoughband she was a big party poopy at my B-Day party!! I guess it was because Noel was there and she probably thought she was taking me away to be her friend or something. I was just being a good host by giving equal attention to my other guests, Cassi and Noel. My mom said only three people because of the stress with moving and all. And plus she was with me like all day long on Friday, the 22nd, and she slept over at my house, AND she was with me the whole following day, AND she went to the store with us and picked my other guests up, AND she slept over that night too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At 5:00, 4:59 actually, we met Cassi and Noel at my old house (apartment, yuck). At my party we played strip poker, we danced and sang to music, we opened presents(I did), and we played Where Were You on the Night of the Murder! When we played that Serena lay under the table all night. At late night we played Truth/Dare. Cassi kept daring everybody to get naked, but wouldn't do it herself. Escpeciall when we played strip poker.
I had a great month with a lot of ups and downs especially with Noel and Serena with me on the ride.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache
P.S. I'm going to miss my friends, long lost lovers, the dweebs, teachers, the "Populars", Abby's group, and everybody else who is now far from me and my life, oh, and may I lead a happy life, and make many, many new friends!! I'll miss you all!!

6/15/98 Monday 9:33 pm

Dear Diary,
I know I should have been writing in here past month, especially with us moving(May 23), my b-day(May22), my last day of school(May 22), my b-day party(May 23), Talahi's last day of school (June 4)-alson known as GRADUATION!
Well, my birthday/last day of school was so cool! I was full of confidence, power, and embarrasement. Every where I went Nikki and Noel made this day totally public! They wrote in huge bubble letters on chalk boards-"Bye Nicolete! We'll miss you. Have a happy 12th birthday!", and my locker they'd put a sign saying the same thing, but including-"Sign Here". I didn't argue though, I wanted to receive all the attention, but the only attention I got was people asking me if it was true that I was moving and where.
Continued...(Don't forget!)
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

5/15/98 Friday 8:27 pm

Dear Diary,
Today was the most horrible day ever! It was going great until math, well after math actually.

5/13/98 Wednesday 8:32 pm

Dear Diary,
Today during recess, Serena dragged me to the kickball field, but I screamed the whole way. She said she only dragged me there because if I was there, Karl would of let her play. Yeah Right! Nikki, Ashley, & Brittany got to play.
Anyways Serena came over today. We worked on homework, and then we went outside with the phone. And we called Jon Tschida to tell him that Noel was wondering if Jon would go out with her. Which Noel would never say, but Serena asked anyways. He said, "No, are you serious?" So she asked him if he would go out with her, and he said, "Are you sure?" "Yeah!" "Ok, I don't care." Then when Serena hung up the phone, she went crazy and just screamed and screamed. Tomorrow she said that when Jon tells all his friends, she is just going to laugh and laugh right in his face. I can't wait to find out what happens.
I hope Noel is back! I want to ask her some stuff about Tuesday, and Karl, and all that junk.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

5/12/98 Tuesday 3:57 pm

Dear Diary,
I'm so comfused. I feel like such a baby! Today was the end of the month party, and we got to go bowling. Noel was sick so she didn't get to go. Anyways, Serena, Nikki, Jenny, Sarah H., and I were on a team. The team next to us contained Eric Hall, James Powers, Karl, Chris, and Russel. We were joking around with them, and even made a bet with 'em, "We can beat you points and all!" The whole time they were ahead by two sets, but were on the same person.
Well as the minutes went by and the bowlers bowled and right out of the clear blue, Eric asked me out... for Karl!!! Karl doesn't even know so I don't really think he likes me but, the boys keep asking Karl if he does like me and then they say, "See see, we told you, LOOK!"
Serena thinks I should but then again she flirts alot, isn't shy around boys, and would say yes to anyone who asked her. Nikki to my surprise said she would. She said she agrees that Karl doesn't know me and why'd he'd ask me, but she says, Karl is really nice. Serena said the same thing, but had her own opinion. She said Karl just wants to go out with me because I'm pretty and big breasted like all the other girls he dated. Nikki thinks he want to go out with me because I'm nice. I don't know, once again I think it's just a big hoax! Ashley Curtis said she would have said no like me. Thank goodness!
Serena just called, and said she thinks Karl really does like me, because she heard Karl asking Eric if he would ask me out for him. But if Serena heard him say that, why didn't she tell me!? And especially if it was right before bowling that she heard it.
I don't know, it's really scary! My horoscope said that I should wait for the person who is right for me, but WHO IS IT, AND WHEN WILL HE COME??!! Another horoscope says I'll become popular because of some school event that I'll take part of in the middle of May. Serena said that going out with Karl is it. I don't think so, it's only the 2nd week.
What should I do?! It's all so confusing! I think I did the right thing by saying no. What if I didn't? I mean, I don't even like Karl! I don't know hardly anything about him. My mom would freak if I said yes. She has a very strong opinion on dating underage. I REALLY HATE ADOLESCENCE!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Confusingly in love

Monday 5/11/98 8:32 pm

Dear Diary,
On Thursday I got my teeth pulled. It didn't hurt except when they gave me the shots, two in my gums, and two in the roof of my mouth. OUCH! For the rest of the day I had to have gauze in my mouth to stop the flowing of the blood! On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I stayed with my best friend Cassi! Her b-day party was on Friday. Then we went to her grandma's house on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday afternoon was FUN! Me, Cassi, Jerri, Terri, Jenni, and Cassi's cousin went window shopping at the Mall of America. Cassi's grandma was in Minneapolis. At MOA we stopped at B-Daltons, my fave. bookstore, and I saw the sequal to my fave. new fantasy book Of Two Minds. The sequal is called More Minds. I had the best weekend ever!
Guess What! We're moving May 22nd instead of May 30th. My mom is working May 30th and wants to be there when we move. She might have to drop us out of school early. I'm gonna miss the friends I made this year! :(

4/4/98 Saturday 9:44 pm

Dear Diary,
My mom picked me and my sister up from school so I didn't get to go with Nikki on Friday to give the note to Ben about Serena.
Well about an hour ago I got home from AppleBee's. Serena called and told me that there was no sign of Bennerinie. Poor Serena! She thinks that Nikki never talked to him in the first place. Noel kept an eye on Nikki and told Serena she did her work.
I told Serena that she should relax, maybe Ben was scared and nervous to respond to the note, I mean, he's practically a Popular. If Russel heard about this, Ben could end up being humiliated and friendless by Monday. (No Offense Serena!) And now that I think of it, Ben is in the low school groups, (smarts I mean) so he probably didn't have any homework. And who's gonna look in their backpack when you have no homework? Nikki was supposed to put the note to Ben in his backpack.
It'll be Sunday, then Monday, so Serena still has an entire day to sit by the phone waiting! Man! I'm really glad I'm over my crush and don't have enough gusto to ask a boy out anyways. I wish all the luck in the world to Serena.
Today Joe gave me $3 to buy something, because he promised he'd take me to the movie, but Sammy and Kala ruined a perfectly good afternoon for the movies. I bought a Diet Mountain Dew, Sweet Tarts, and a Young and Modern magazine.

3/28/98 Saturday 1:36 pm

Dear Diary,
Yesterday I slept over at Serena's. We went to the movie Greese on the big screen!
Guess what! Serena likes Ben! That's not it, but it has something to do with that. Serena asked me to ask Ben out for her! Well I totally said NO!! But I did tell her that maybe Nikki would do it. So she's gonna ask Nikki to do it on Friday. Friday, because if Ben says NO then there will be two days to let whole thing blow over. Good luck Serena!

3/22/98 Sunday 8:16 pm

Dear Diary,
Tomorrow is another band day. I can't wait for the band tour that ends band this year. Mr. Burgoyme, my band teacher really creaps me out! He's always asking me questions about me social life. Maybe because he has none. On Friday I had my lesson with Chris , because of spirit week and he didn't say anything to him. Oddly the enough, he didn't talk to me either. Mr. Burgoyme was one cruel dude! Next year he said my band instructor will be a female. Thank Goodness!

3/21/98 Saturday 9:44 pm

Dear Diary,
Mom's gone right now, I wish she weren't. Her and Corinne went to the Red Carpet. It's 70's night or something. They both dressed up as hippies. Corinne couldn't find anything so she spent an hour going through Mom's stuff. Joe was in like a totally mean, grumpy mood. He is definently not happy about having Mom go out on a night with Corinne. He should just take a chill pill. What is his problem? I am going to stay up or sleep on the couch so I can welcome them in.
On my appointment on Thursday at the Orthodontist, they made moldings of my teeth. First they took 20 x-rays then she mixed up this really gooey paste; this cinnamon flavored paste was put into little containers for my gums. She had to hold the containers onto my teeth bottom AND top for 30 seconds each. Then I could wash my mouth out. This one guy said, "The teeth that are sticking out at the top ruined my roots to my two front teeth." Mom and the doctor and some other people, and maybe me are going to discuss what we should do. He said it would be best to pull all 4 teeth out, and the braces will do the rest. I don't know what I want to happen.

3/20/98 Friday 12:23 AM

Dear Diary,
Titanic never seems to fail me! It was a great movie of course. I didn't cry through it this time. Noel was tearful through the whole entire thing. I couldn't help but laugh, I wasn't even like that the first time, well maybe I was. I definently plan on seeing it again!
Right now we're listening to the Spice Girls. For Noel's gift I got her nail polish and a poster. She got the "Titanic Soundtrack" NO FAIR!
Nikki is insane. Whenever she laughs she snorts, I think now she's doing it on purpose.

3/16/98 Monday 8:22 pm

Dear Diary,
Today I didn't have any school. My grandma came to watch Kala and me. Kala and I put on a concert. The first side of Come on Over featuring Shania Twain. Then we ordered pizzas. When mom came home she drove Joe to the dentist, and picked up Grandma's new car. I had fun!
Thursday, the big day. I don't get my braces, but they take moldings to size up my braces. Mom says I'll have my braces by April and for sure my b-day. I hope I get the colored kind. I wonder how I'll be able to brush my teeth.
Friday, I get to see the sensation, Leonardo Di Caprio on the big screen in Titanic at Noel's slumber party. Yeah!

3/13/98 Friday 9:15 pm

Dear Diary,
I got a B+ on my speech. Mrs. Searles said it was too long but it looked like I worked hard on it.
Today my mom cut my hair all one length, and it was real short. Even though I am trying to grow it long, it doesn't hurt to get a haircut here or there, does it?
I don't really know what else to say. Maybe next year in junior high, I'll have heart throbbing stories to tell. I'm sure I will, a new school, a new life, a new everything. Hey, guess what? Serena saw an ad in the newspaper for houses in Eden Valley.

P.S. She might live by me.

3/12/98 Thursday 8:26 pm

Dear Diary,
This week I've been teaching the most sweetest, annoying, cute group of 1st and 2nd graders. Courtney is the best!!! She particapates in every disscussion and acts like she's been your friend for life. Elijah's little brother is in Mrs. Dombroskis' class, the class my group has been teaching, and he gets done with every activity first. Yesterday Jon brought in alcohol bottles to talk about alcohol and Mr. Collins, pretended he was an alcoholic and pretended to drink 'em. Wednesday the kids were being really loud and we couldn't get them to quiet down. Jon looked like he was going to explode. All week long Colette and I were teasing him about being rude to them on Monday. So he must have been being careful of what he did and said. Tomorrow we're gonna play an idiotic game called "Citizen Seat Belt."
During reading I had to give a speech about Eleanor Roosevelt that needed to be 3-5 minutes long. When I got up there my heart started thumping 80 miles per hour, I couldn't hear myself, and I kept stuturing about the same thing over and over again & my speech, as millions told me, was ten minutes long. I guess I'll get a B or B- for a grade. It was horrible. I hope tomorrow's better.

2/26/98 Thursday 4:17 pm

Dear Diary,
Right now I'm writting this entry in my mom's car, on the way to Hutchinson to pick up my grandma.
Know how I said I wish people would ignore me and my friends? Well they did... until... Nikki opened her big fat mouth! She told about how her sister was wondering why are Russel's eyelashes are dark. Well Serena jsut happened to tell Eric Holiday and he asked Russel. Then it was told to everyone. Kelli, sweetie pie princess, told us we were immature two year olds. Well excuse me, what did I do!!? I was in no part of this for the past couple of days. Thanks a lot Nikki!
Love,
(the immature one!!)

2/24/98 Tuesday 9:03 pm

Dear Diary,
THE TRUTH IS OUT!!! Eric Holiday came up to Noel this morning and said, "Hey Noel, I heard you like Russel... from Heather" as loud as he could. Noel totaly went bazoork! She burst out laughing and got as red as a cherry while Russel sat in his desk, burying his head in his arms. Everybody immediatly stopped what they were doing and looked backed at her and Eric. All day long people were teasing and taunting, and because we were her friends, Serena, Nikki, and I were dragged down with her. Josh came up to me and said, "I heard about your hot encounter with Russel in the steamy jungle." I was totaly appauled, I mean now it's about ME and Russel!?! What about Nikki!!! Or Serena!!!Serena practically went out with him last year, in fact she did! And there are at least a million times where she said, "Oh, he is so cute!"
I hope tomorrow the people will ignore us, the outsiders, and go back to their usual petty rumors. I hate being center of attention. That's why I like being unpopular, people think I'm weird and I'm a freak.
Anyways, during social we're doing this Kids Teaching Kids About Drugs program, and my group is Jon, Tony, Colette, and me. But guess whose in Noel's group! Russel, Abby, and her.
I'll have more updates, stay tuned! Nighty night-night!

2/22/98 Sunday 12:49 pm

Dear Diary,
Sometimes I wish it were my wedding day and I'm walking down the aisle right now. And then I look at baby pictures and I wish I were three!!! One thing's for sure, I don't want to be 11! I hate adolescence. I hate being in the middle of childhood and adulthood. To tell you the truth it's scary! Everyday I worry about having my period in class and not having a pad. Or wearing one of my favorite shirts adn having it be too tight where my breasts stick out. It seems like girls go through the most embarrassing adolescent stages, but then again I don't know much about guys. Men are a huge mystery. I wish they weren't because then I would feel weird around my frineds when they talk about how much then know about 'em. I know a lot, but not enough. Everyday I'm learning something now, and it's not from school. Did you know Talahi Elementry School tells 4th graders about intercourse, sex?! And Noel told me that in 4th grade these kids brought condoms to school and said they're for "protection". Sartell waits 'till 6th grade, but sends home permission slips and pamplets so you can talk to your child about the important stuff.
I hope adolescence hurry's up and gets over with! I don't want to be a grown-up or a child, but I don't want to be inbetween either. I don't know what I want. I still have long way to go 'till I reach that big ol' gateway in the sky.
Thoughtfuly yours,
(the inbetweener)

2/21/98 Saturday 10:52 pm

Dear Diary,
Sorry I hadn't written in you for awhile, well actually a month. A lot has happened though. That's kinda why I'm sorry that I haven't been writting in here. The other reason is because my goal was to write in her everyday. Well now that I think about it, that goal is near to impossible!!! Who cares! I'm writting now, aren't I???
The scoop on poop! Just kidding! Lately I've been writting a movie about my friend Noel. So far I haven't gotten to any good stuff.
My mom and Joe won a 3 day vacation to Florida. They leave this coming Friday morning and come back Monday night. My grandma is going to stay with Kala and me during that time.
Speaking of my Grandma, she stayed with us this week because we had one week one for winter break. I had so much fun! She got me purple nail polish with glitter in it, a fuzzy poster, her old watch, and a book called Rush Week. When she comes this weekend she said she'd take us to a movie, maybe. Titanic, the greatest movie of all time! Have I told you that I saw that movie with my mom, Joe, & Kala? Well I did. Titanic is three hours long and stars Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet. I hope we go to see that or else The Wedding Singer with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler.
Guess What!? I got another perm! And my mom layered my hair. Most of my curls came out though.
I think the most important thing of all is that I have to get BRACES!!!!!! Now I'll be a four-eyed, SILVERED TOOTH GEEK!!!! Grreatt! NOT! At least now my friend, BEST FRIEND, Cassi, needs to get 'em too. I've run out of things to say. I think that's everything. Well wish me luck on my long, endless journey of life.

1/4/98 Sunday 8:24 pm

Dear Diary,
Notice that I put /98. It's because it's 1998. Bye bye 1997, HELLO 1998! It's Jan-U-ary!
Sorry, but it's been a full week or weeks actually. I've had lots lots to do, this included, of course.
I'll start from Christmas Eve and move on from there.
On x-mas eve at the Valley Inn they had this touch-screen game on T.V.s that were hooked together. I played 'em a lot. I got an art set, a porclein doll, vanity set (with trinket box included) and a piggy bank shaped like Minnesota.
That was pretty much it. Not alot this year.
On x-mas Kala and I woke up at 4:30 am like every Christmas morn', but Joe said, "GET BACK TO BED NOW!!" So we had to sleep 'till at least 7:00. Mom was up and we should have woke her up first, she would've let us stay up. Anyways, that was a conflict all day long. For x-mas I got a porclein doll, a book called Baby Alicia is Dying, clothes, glow-in-dark star, Battleship, rollerblades, make your own scrunchie hair set, nail polish, body glitter, Nintendo 64, makeup, a coat, gloves, a bunny(stuffed from Nikki), a backpack, pencils & bookmark with Pooh and his friends on them (from Heather) and that's about it, I can't think of anymore.
Now when my grandma came she got me backgammon, brown cordouroy jeans, a blue & brown vest to go with it. From Sean I got two tapes, and five pretty rings. One tape was called Come on Over by Shania Twain and one was called Spice by (of course) the Spice Girls. Steven got me a book called The Giver. And a Garfield bookmark.

12/23/97 Tuesday 7:15 pm

Dear Diary,
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! We're going to the Valley Inn and there we're having having x-mas dinner & opening... PRESENTS!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait! We went to Sears Inc. today and mom bought Kala and me a velvet, laced dress, mine black, and Kala's green, for the x-mas party. Anyways Joe still hasn't wrapped my step-cousins' presents. He got Dusty a train-set, Angie a dollset, Jena a barbie and a lifesize doll!
I'll write about what I got.

P.S. Oh my gosh! This is such a slapdash(word masters) job of writing!

12/16/97 Tuesday 8:51 pm

Dear Diary,
See I told you I'd write more! Anyways today I went to Peer Mediation and the people Kjersten and I had to mediate were hard. They never agreed on anything, they always argued, and kept interrupting. Their names were Kenny and Brad. They were 5th graders. Kjersten and Kenny did most of the talking, but I talked to. Brad hardly talked at all. Finally the conflict was solved after about an hour of going back and forth on the same story.
Tomorrow I'm going to go to Serena's to pratice my instrument and our duet for St. Ben's talent show. We don't know what song we're going to play, but it'll be X-masey.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

12/16/97 Tuesday 3:44 pm

Dear Diary,
I just got my period! A few minutes ago. It looks like I had to go poop but I didn't know where the bathroom was. I'm not going to tell anyone! I don't even know how to tell mom!I'm scared, but excited!

P.S. I'll write more

12/15/97 Monday 9:19 pm

Dear Diary,
Noel is soo lucky! Russel likes her. I've never really heard him say it, but it's so obvious. Noel likes him too. Maybe he'll ask her out, and then they'll get married and have 100,000 babies (or more). I'll keep on with this story. Out!

12/12/97 Friday 8:02 pm

Dear Diary,
Today Eric wasn't in school. That sucked!!
Also today when I got home from school, Mom said I could open one present, so did Joe. Joe got me Diddy King Racing Nintendo 64. And Mom got me... makeup! She got me Clean & Clear facial soap; bath puff, clear mascara, blush, lip gloss, eye shadow, & cheek & lip brushes. She showed me how to put it on and everthing. I like my presen, both of them, a lot!
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

12/11/97 Thursday 9:26 pm

Dear Diary,
Is there something in the air or something?? Or is it just that I'm in a new school (sort of!!)? My last diary entries are so retarded. I think I'm turning into a real lunatic. Maybe it's because I've been hanging around Nikki and Noel for so long. It's really done something with my brain.
Nothing happened... except I went to the dentist. I have two cavities, I need braces, and my teeth are starting to overlap each other! Wow! That's a "mouth" full. I wonder what I'd look like if I had braces. Probably really weird!!!!!!
Love Always,
Nicolette Gamache
P.S. I wonder when I'll be myself again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12/9/97 Tuesday 8:33 pm

Dear Diary,
Right now I'm writing in you instead of doing my homework. How ironic is that?? I'll do it after this.
Anyways today we had gym and there was this really cool challenge course. There was the "Tunnnel of Love", a cargo net, donut, hockey, b-ball, etc. We had partners so I picked Noel Sibson as my partner. We, me and her, didn't get much gym time, because we had to return a library book.
You know Eric Hall?? Well of course you don't, but anyway he keeps looking at me, smiling, helping me with things, saying I'm nice, and his friends and he keep saying my name and pointing at me!! I wonder if it's LOVE! I'm kidding, it probably isn't, but still... Gotta go! Homework you see.
Love yours truly,
Nicolette Gamache

12/8/97 Monday 9:12 pm

Dear Diary,
I just read my last entry! It just totally made me laugh. "Yes, oh, yes"?!!!?? What was that?! I mean he is cute, but did it drive me to write all that junk? I guess it did!!!!
Anyways (Hee, hee, hee) Serena Lumely, my secret santa, got me a blue scrunchie, purple and gold clip and a book. I got Noel, my secret santee, peppermint candy canes.
Love ya,
Nicolette Gamache

12/3/97 Wednesday 4:55 pm

Dear Diary,
It is almost Christmas Break!! I have so many things planned: On the 22nd I'm going to Amanda Karow's Christmas party. We're going ice skating, Christmas caroling, and other stuff there too. It'll be a sleep over too. The 23rd is the conclusion of her party. On the 24th my family and I will be going to Joe's mom's house, then to the Valley Inn for a big Christmas party again. There'll be lots of presents and food and music. And of course on the 25th it's Christmas day! I get to open all my presents from my family. Kala said Mom got me a train set, coo! & I saw a porclein doll in Mom's closet when I was looking for wrapping paper. I bet it's mine because Kala got one for her birthday last month (11/22/97). The rest of the X-mas break, I'm going to sit back, relax, and play with my train set.
Eric Hall in Mr. Scholer's class is so cute!! I remember him (more like noticed) from 2nd grade, when I had to be paired with him in gym. He's very smart! Eric is in all the higher levels of classes and is popular. That's not why I like him though. I like him because he's nice and considerate... and cute!!!! I hope I have to be paired up with him again for something! He sits right in front of me in reading! Yes, oh, yes! :)
Love ya,
Nicolette Gamache
P.S. Remember it's a secret

10/22/97 Wednesday 3:32 pm

Dear Diary,

9/24/97, Wednesday, 6:28 pm

Dear Diary,
School has been great! I still talk to all my old friends. My new friends at school are really nice.
Nikki McGowan is best friends with Amanda Karow so that's how I know her. She and Amanda are exactly alike.
Noel Sibson is a lot like me. She doesn't like a lot of different kinds of foods, she's interested in puberty, her mom's kind of like mine, and lots of other stuff.
Heather & Serena are my friends too, but I don't know them as when as Nikki or Noel.
Abby Hollenhorst & Sara Proell are really mean to us. Noel's mom talked to Mrs. Blommel (my homeroom teacher) and she said that we should just ignore them.
Love,
Nicolette G.

Dear Diary,
Today has been a mixure of a million feelings; anger, hope, sad, happy, frustration, loneliness, joy, grateful, and so much more; to tell you the truth, that I can't remember.
The happy part of the day was Corinne's wedding, my mom's best friend. There were lots of people. I didn't know any of them except Corinne, Mike (the groom), Corinne's parents, and her brothers. Know what? The reverend didn't even let them kiss (the bride and groom). And it's tradition! After the wedding we went to the reception. For dinner there we had chicken stuffing, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Later on there was dancing, but I didn't get to go because Mom said, "No, it's not a kids kind of place!" So I had to go home and be babysat by Ben (Joe's nephew, Sammy was there too.)
That's when the depressing part of the day came. Kala and Sammy were running all over the place and weren't listening to me. And Ben locked me out and told the girls to run away from me. So to end this entry, I'm going to say it's been a confusing day.

Monday, August 11, 1997- 9:35 pm

Dear Diary,
Today was a pretty boring day. But today I called Fawn Fandel an dshe wasn't home so Kala and I biked down to her house, to make sure, and she still wasn't home. So we went back to uour house and had some bagels from the Salvation Army. At the S.A. this one old man told mom that she had 5 loaves of bread (you're only supposed to have 3). Then another guy told her to put a loaf back because she had 4. All of a sudden the men were arguing about how many loaves mom had. Mom said that they were trying to make a fool out of her.
Anyway back on subject. When we were done with our bagels, mom left for work, so I was in charge 'til 4:30 because Joe was also at work. When Joe got home we went to see if Fawn was back yet. On the way back Kala said we were lost. So I made so a bet, a $2 bet. In the end Kala became my slave, for tomorrow, all day tomorrow.

Nicolette Gamache

Friday, August 8, 1997-11:43 am

Dear Diary,
I'm drawing Kala's portriat and she's acting like a baby. Good thing I pulled out the play. You know the one about the pretties, Richie, and Willy. And the one I had introduced to an audience of two at my birthday party (Joe and Mom). I hope I can show my play to my new friends(when I get some) and they maybe can be in it.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

July 25, 1997

Dear Diary,
Boy has it been a long day! We've been moving all day. All of us, Randy, Lisa, and Nick Pung; Joe and Dina Hiltner; and Kala and me. We really weren't that well, but what can I say? We have too much heavy stuff.
Goodnight,
Nicolette Gamache

May 22, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today it's my birthday and has it been wacko or what? Mr. Friehammer, Mr. Kraul, Mr. Putz, Mr. Schneider became a woman today. Mrs. Adleman became a man, Mrs. Karasch came in her P.J.'s, Mrs. Kipka, well, she didn't do anything. There was even a pep-rally. What's a pep-rally your say? Well, it's kind of like a party, a big party, but not a lot of people are invited. And everybody's like a cheerleader and has "pep" All the teachers sang really awesome songs like "YMCA" and "Doo Wop" (by the Hanson sisters).
Anyways I'd like to sing a little song myself.
"Happy Birthday"
Happy Birthday to me! (Cha cha cha)
Happy Birthday to me!(Cha cha cha)
Happy Birthday to meEEE
Happy Birthday to meeeeeeeeeeee!(Cha Cha Cha)
Happy Birthday Nicolette

Dear Diary,
Mr. Anderson has been canceling Full Band and band lessons for some odd reason. We haven't had them all week. I wonder what happened to him.

Dear Diary,
In gym we're playing basketball. Today was the last day, I'm so glad! On Thursday we're doing some activity, and then next week we're starting...tumbling! Yea!

Dear Diary,
You know how I was telling you about Renee and her "period"? Well it seem sshe did get her period. When she had stomach cramps she was getting her period. I still havent' gotten mine (not that I want it or anything), but I have gotten something that' s like a period, menstrual fluid. In a pamphlet I got, it said if you get it you get it a year before your period.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

March 9, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today wasn't as grand as I thought it would be. I woke up at Renee's house. I took a shower(her parents let her guests take care of their hygiene), then she took a shower. When she got out she said her stomach hurt so I told her she probably just hungry. Then she asked me if I think it's her period. I said no. I mean isn't that kind of gross. Well afer that we ate and practice a little bit more. Then her mom drove us to the Sartell High School, but she had to pick up Aaron(Renee' s little brother) first. When we go tthere we just walked around until we got to the gym. There was the SHS gymnastics team performing. They were good. Then we wnet to the Home Ec. room for one last rehearsal before performance. When we were on stage there was an extremely bright light shining in my eyes. I screwed up on some of the songs and I couldn't find my mom, grandma, or sister. When the songs were over I got cotton candy and then left.

Nicolette Gamache

March 8, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today all I did was read the book, "My Girl". The book is based on the movie or vice-versa. Whatever! Until Renee, one of my friends, called and said she was bored. She also asked if I could come over. I asked Mom and she said yes, but I have to take a shower and stuff. I'm sleeping over too, and Renee's dad is leaving at 11:30 p.m. so we get the house to ourselves.
We practiced our band music a million times already for tomorrow. On Sunday it's the Music, Arts, and Fun Fair. Mr. Anderson said we get play in it. So that's why we practiced. We're going to play the same one as on Tuesday.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

March 7, 1997

Dear Diary,
Yesterday was as boring as it gets. Today, though, I went over to Cassi's. HEr uncle David was there, he's pretty funy. When I got home my mom siad she was going out with one of her friends so that meant it was me, Joe, and Kala. Sammy was here this weekend, but she was dropped off at my step-aunts house.
Love,
Nicolette G.

March 5, 1997

Dear Diary,
Yesterday I moved all of my books into my locker and now it's kind of cool! Our class is doing it next week anyway. We're doing it because Mr. Friehammer said if we were going to be sixth graders then we should get a head start. Well, that's what happened.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

March 4, 1997

Dear Diary,
The concert went just great! Except the 4th grade concert was kind of messy. Some fourth grade solos were forgotten, said quietly or too loud, and some peop;e said some of their parts and then said "What?" and then said the rest of their part.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

March 4, 1997

Dear Diary,
On Monday Mr. Anderson (my band teacher) scheduled all the full band people for a band lesson. He scheduled Tina and me for 10:00. Tina Brinker plays the French horn, and so do I. When we got to there, the trumpets were there. They said they had a band lesson at 10:00 a.m. and we did too. When Mr. Anderson came, he said that both the trumpets and French horns had a lesson at 10:00 a.m. So then we got to play with the trumpets. It was no biggie. Well actually I guess it sounded pretty cool, but when we had that lesson I sundenly realized how loud the trumpets are. They sound like elephants.
Today at our dress rehearsal, Mr. Anderson put us by the trumpets instead of clarinets. I don't know why. When we played "Applachian Overture" I screwed up on measure 104 and 105. This song is two pages long. I don't like it much. When we were done with our four songs-"AO", "Overture in B flat", "Barbara Ann", and "Oxford Overture" we sat and watched the fourth graders do their vocal concert. Their concert was sooo long. Well I have to go. It's 6:22 and I have to go to my real concert.
Love,
Nicolette

March 2, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today was boring as usual, but in the afternoon I went to Cassi's. Her and her sister came to my house and asked if I could go, Joe said "Yes". At her house we watched Kazaam. It's a neat movie. During the end my mom called around 6:30 p.m. She said I had to be home by 7:00 p.m. and she sounded angry. So Cassi and Jenni (Cassi's sister) walked (more like ran) me home quickly. Luckily I made it home by 7:00, right on the dot. Today may have been boring, but at least I had one adventure (sort of).
Love,
Nicolette G.

March 1, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today my grandma is moving into her new duplex. A duplex is two houses connected together. It's really cool. When I went over to my grandma's she said Kala and I could sleepover. at her new house. Her house is really messy with boxes everywhere.
At night Sean (my uncle) ordered some pizza and rented some movies. The movies were called Bulletproof, Eraser, and The Tie That Binds. The movie I mostly wanted to see was Bulletproof but when Sean put it in I was already snoozing.
Love,
Nicolette G.

February 28, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today was Mrs. Adleman told us that our whole class passed the Science test, so that means I got to...DISSECT! AT first I thought it would be really gross, in the end it was so cool!! Mrs. A put a vacuum hose down one of the bronchi. Then she turned it on and my group's lung blew up huge.
Love,
Nicolette G.
P.S. My mom rented the movie "House Arrest". I liked the movie, it was funny.

February 27, 1997

Dear Diary,
My sister's friend is Ashley Jaminson. She lives with her grandma, Gwen. Gwen babysits us in the moning. She is sometimes mean. Anyway, we were at her house and the weirdest thing just happened. I lay my backpack down and the new keychain broke.
The science test we took was a lot easier than I thought. I might even get an A. I wonder if it'll be fun to dissect a cow's lung. I'm sure of one thing, it'll be gross.
Today I went over to Cassi's. We watched "The Neverending Story". It was only half way through when I had to leave. When I got home Joe and I played 1-on-1 b-ball on our Nintendo 64. I suck at b-ball.
Love,
Nicolette G.
P.S. I won most of the games. It might have been a tie.

February 27, 1997

Dear Diary,
I'm doing one long entry of this month or else I'd have a million short entries.
Most of the month was boring, nothing really happened. We tested for dancing (after we learned a million dumb dances). We kept on testing the same dances over and over and over and over and over.
We also made this huge poster about the desert and Minnesota. It's really cool! There's glitter glue, sand , pop-up pics, real grass and leaves, and so totally et cetera.
The last week of February (this week) we're having millions of tests. The two major test are Social Studies and Science. Science is supposed to be the hardest. If you pass, you get to disect a cow's lung. Gross, huh? Mrs. Adleman said some kids dissect with no gloves on! Can you believe that?!?! I hope I pass the Science test(well, kind of).
Love,
Nicolette G.

P.S. The Social Studies test was easy as pie.
P.S.S. Lots of kids in my class have lates, so Mr. Friehammer got really mad and started yelling at the class. After he cooled down he still made us write and share three ways we can improve as a student.

February 2, 1997

Dear Diary,
My glasses look awesome!! They have a red and gold rim. The lenses shine in the light, and...well, everything just looks totally cool! I can see way better now. Well duh! Isn't that what glasses are for?
At the eye office (or whatever you call it) the secretary (he seemed like one) put my glasses on me (of course!) and was like unscrewing and screwing things, and unbending and bending things. It looked weird.
Love,
Nicolette G.

February 1, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today my grandma gave my sister and me a Country Line Dancing tape. I don't know any dances.
Love,
Nicolette G.

January 31, 1997

Dear Diary,
This week the eye doctor said I'm getting it next Monday, not the Monday that already happened. Just thought you'd like to know (so you didn't think it was the other Monday).
This Thursday we started squared dancing. I was really fun. There were head couples, side couples, swing, and squaring sets. It was totally cool, except that we have to dance with gross boys.
Love,
Nicolette G.

January 25, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today I went to the eye doctor. He said I'll need glasses. And I'm starting to get near-sighted. Near-sighted is when you can't see things far away clearly. Far-sightedness is when you see things close up not so clearly. I get them this Monday.
Sincerely,
Nicolette G.

January 24, 1997

Dear Diary,
This week Mrs. Wood (music teacher) sent the nurste a nothe I was squinting in music class. SO I had to have my eyes checked again in the nurse's office. She said my eyes got worse and I should see an eye doctor.
Next week were starting a new unit in gym. I hope it's tumbling (gymnastics).
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

January 19, 1997

Dear Diary,
I slept at my grandma's last night. It's about 7:30-7:31, somewhere around there.
My grandma bought me a book called Left At the Alter by Francine Pascal.

January 18, 1997

Dear Diary,
Mom and I went to the mall today. I started a new keychain collection and i got another one to go into my collection. I got it at the mall. It's a peace sign. It's one of those puzzle piece one's. Cool, huh?
Love,
Nicolette G.

January 17, 1997

Dear Diary,
This week we drew our self portraits and we're going to paint them on Wednesday. Mine looks really dumb. I have erase marks everywhere. That's all we mainly did. Everything else was b-o-r-i-n-g, boring.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

January 14, 1997

Dear Diary,
It's 9:00 p.m. so I'm going to have to write fast.
At half-time it wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. You know my favorite cheer-VICTORY, and my second favorite is the alligator one? Well, we didn't get to do my second favorite.
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

January 13, 1997

Dear Diary,
Today I tried out our school's new sleds and they were okay.
Cassi said she likes the cheers from Cheer Clinic. I got to go. Bye!
Love,
Nicolette Gamache

January 12,1997

Dear Diary,
Today was kind of boring. My legs hurt from being a base. My left thigh is really sore. I hope it's better on Tuesday because that's when we cheer in the game. See ya. Bye!
Love,
Nicolette Gamache
